The head of the Avdiivka MBA, Vitaliy Barabash, spoke about this on air at the national telethon, the Ukrinform agency reports today, December 16.
Yesterday we managed to evacuate five people. As of this morning, 1,230 people remain in the city. Of course, this is a lot. Recently we have seen a decrease in those wishing to leave,” Barabash emphasized.
According to him, on average, from three to six people a day now report leaving, and during the period of exacerbation, more than 350 people left in this direction.
Barabash noted that residents of Avdeevka live in the basements of multi-story and private houses. There are also rare cases when residents are in their apartments.
He added that the enemy carries out dozens of attacks during the day, but the Ukrainian military does not allow the Russians to gain a foothold somewhere.
If they even manage to advance a little, then artillery, mortars and rocket artillery are immediately used. That is, the enemy does not have any serious consolidation. The defense line around our city is holding,” Barabash noted.
According to Barabash, in battles for the city the enemy uses many so-called “meat assaults.” They are joined by the mobilized groups “Storm-V” and “Storm-Z”, who undergo training beforehand.
