Ukrainian President Zelensky met with newly elected Argentine President Javier Miley in Buenos Aires. The Ukrainian leader announced this on Sunday, December 10, on his Facebook page.
The President of Ukraine noted that the Argentine people highly respect freedom, and this is exactly what Ukrainians are fighting for today.
“Today in the squares and streets of Buenos Aires the word “freedom” – libertad – is often heard. And this is what binds us – Ukraine and Argentina. We really value freedom, we really defend it and we are really ready to strengthen freedom together ,” wrote the head of state .
The president also thanked Argentina for supporting Ukraine.
“During a war, it is difficult to find time and fly halfway around the world. But we heard you, your signals in parliament and your personal strength to support Ukraine, our people who are fighting against Russian aggression ,” said the Ukrainian leader.
The Ukrainian head of state told the Argentine President about the process of implementing the Ukrainian Peace Formula and invited the Argentine side to participate in the fourth meeting of national security and foreign policy advisers on its implementation in January 2024 and in preparation of the first founding Global Peace Summit.
The parties also discussed the next steps in preparation for the Ukraine-Latin America summit, which will open a new page in Ukraine’s relations with the states of the region.
The interlocutors paid special attention to the development of bilateral cooperation in several areas.
Miley swore to the constitution. After that, the attributes of power were transferred to the new leader of Argentina.
After the inauguration, Zelensky, together with other representatives of foreign states, took part in the ceremony congratulating Miley on the inauguration, which took place at the Argentine Government House.
