In the occupied Donetsk region, Gennady Kiskorov, who was sent to war as part of mobilization, was tied to a tree on the street by order of the command and was not allowed inside the premises all night; they were required to agree to participate in hostilities.

His brother Semyon reported the incident to human rights activists from the Russian Conscious Objector Movement.
At the end of November, the Kiskorov brothers submitted reports with a request to replace their military service with an alternative civilian one. But they were denied command of the battalion, declaring that such a procedure “for those mobilized is not prescribed by law.”
After this, according to human rights activists, Gennady Kiskorov was tied to a tree overnight. After being “tortured by cold and rain,” he agreed to go to the front line.
The corresponding order was given by Captain Rubanov, deputy commander of the 1st motorized rifle battalion of military unit 21005, where the Kiskorovs serve.
As Semyon Kiskorov told human rights activists, such measures of influence were also applied to other military personnel. He gave human rights activists a video of another Russian soldier being tied to a tree.
After the incident became publicized in the media, Rubanov demanded that the Kiskorovs renounce their claims and write in the explanatory note that the Ukrainians tied Gennady to the tree, the DSO said.
In addition, the captain demanded that Semyon Kiskorov delete all messages on the phone, as well as the video with the tied soldier. Semyon, probably under pressure from the command, called his wife Tatyana on the phone and asked her to withdraw the statement about the crime. Since then, he has not been in touch again, the DSO reported.
We are very afraid for his life and health. Everyone understands why a person makes such calls to his wife. He is at the mercy of people who tortured people because he is defenseless, and they demand that he say exactly this. But Tatyana is not going to withdraw her statement, human rights activists wrote.
According to the DSO, the spouses of Semyon and Gennady Kiskorov reported Rubanov’s actions to the military prosecutor’s office. GSO coordinator Elena Popova, in turn, sent reports of the crime to the Main Military Investigation Department and the Military Investigation Department of the Central Military District.
The various methods of influence of Russian commanders on subordinates who refused to participate in hostilities became known no later than the summer of 2022. For example, “Verstka” then wrote that in Bryanka, during the occupation of the Luhansk region, a “special center” was organized, in the basements of which tens or hundreds of “refuseniks” were kept.
In November 2023, it became known that former Channel One correspondent Ilya Andreev ended up in one of these basements. His wife Yana Andreeva told reporters about this. According to her, in early November Andreev asked for leave for ten days. The command of the fake LPR refused him and sent him to the “punishment pit,” and when he tried to get out of there, he was tied to a tree.
