According to official statistics from the Czech Ministry of the Interior, there are approximately 360,000 people with temporary protection in the Czech Republic, the majority of whom, about four fifths, are women with children.
The lower house of the Czech Parliament approved the possibility of extending the temporary protection of Ukrainian refugees until the end of March 2025. Radio Prague reported this on Friday, December 1.
It was noted that representatives limited the time that refugees can stay in free temporary housing and changed the procedure for deporting people with temporary protection.
The bill will be submitted to the Senate for consideration.
“Temporary protection allows refugees to gain access to state health insurance, education and the labor market. To extend it, according to the project, Ukrainians must first register electronically until March 15, 2024. In this case, it is necessary they reserve a date for a personal visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” – said the material.
The ministry will issue refugees from Ukraine with a visa sticker confirming their temporary protection status. This sticker will be available until the end of 2024.
Refugees must provide proof of housing with an officially certified signature of the property owner or landlord.
We remind you that Switzerland continues its protection status for Ukrainians until March 2025. The Swiss government is also strengthening efforts to integrate as many Ukrainian refugees as possible into the labor market.
It has also been reported that Germany will reduce aid to refugees in 2024. Asylum seekers will only receive the right to social assistance after only three years of receiving reduced aid, and not after one and a half years, as now . Until then, the federal center will pay a total of 7,500 euros per year for each asylum seeker in Germany.
