Yesterday evening, the 330 kV power transmission line “Zaporozhye TPP – Ferrosplavnaya”, through which the station received power from the Ukrainian energy system, broke down. At 2.31, during an air raid, the last line “Zaporozhye NPP – Dneprovskaya” with a voltage of 750 kV was de-energized. It is noted that a complete blackout occurred at Atomic, and Zaporizhia NPP switched to powering its own needs from diesel generators. The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.
The department emphasized that the biggest security threat in this state exists at the fourth power unit. It is caused by the fact that the occupiers used it in violation of the terms of the license for the operation of nuclear power plant reactor units of the Ukrainian regulator and kept it in a hot state.
De-energization of the main circulation pumps cooling the core leads to the transition of the reactor plant to natural circulation mode. This mode is difficult for a reactor installation, its duration is limited by design and can lead to failure of the main equipment of the power unit. The unit needs to be urgently transferred to a cold state, the Ministry of Energy said.
This morning at 7.00 the light at Zaporizhia NPP appeared again. Energy workers emphasized that this is already the eighth blackout that occurred at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and could lead to a nuclear disaster.
Let us remind you that Energoatom stated that at the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP, Russian personnel are damaging equipment important for the safety of the plant. Such actions by the incompetent, illegitimate management of Zaporizhia NPP from Rosatom lead to the inevitable degradation of equipment and systems important for the safety of the plant.
