Such a number of violations by Russian invaders of the laws and customs of war on the territory of Ukraine has been documented since the beginning of a full-scale war. It is important to continue recording the war crimes of the occupiers in order to find the perpetrators and punish them. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced this on December 1, according to the Facebook page of the head of state.
Collecting the proper evidence base for all the atrocities that the Russians are committing on our land is a very responsible and historically significant job. “I thank everyone who implements it,” he noted.
According to the president, cooperation between the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office and the International Criminal Court has yielded very important results. After the opening of the ISS Office in Kyiv, Ukrainian specialists can work together with international experts on a daily basis. And the International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine was opened in The Hague.
Zelensky stressed that law enforcement officers quickly identify those responsible for criminal orders in the Russian army and political environment. Cases of theft and illegal deportation of Ukrainian children by the occupiers are also being investigated.
Let us recall that in October, the independent international UN commission to investigate violations in Ukraine collected new evidence in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions indicating the systematic nature of war crimes by Russians in the temporarily occupied territories.
