The Red Cross of Belarus has lost all its rights as a member of the International Federation, and its funding will also be stopped.
Due to the deportation of Ukrainian children, the Belarusian Red Cross is no longer a member of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies. This was reported by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
“The removal is the result of the failure of the Belarusian Red Cross to comply with its request for the removal of Mr. Dmitry Shevtsov, Secretary General of the National Society,” the statement said.
The request for removal was presented after Shevtsov made several scandalous statements about nuclear weapons, the deportation of children from Ukraine to Belarus, as well as trips to temporarily occupied Donetsk and Lugansk.
The removal of a Belarusian official from his post means that the Red Cross of Belarus loses its rights as a member of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies. Funding for the Belarusian Red Cross will also be stopped.
The Belarusian Red Cross cannot participate in the General Assembly of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies and vote or be elected at any meeting according to law.
At the same time, the Red Cross of Belarus can be reinstated after it fulfills the requirements of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Let’s recall that in July 2023, the Belarusian Red Cross confirmed that it was participating in the evacuation of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories to Belarus.
As we have already written, the representatives of the EP are calling on The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for the self-proclaimed President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, because Belarus is responsible for the crimes committed in Ukraine , including because of the regime’s role in the illegal deportation of children from Ukraine.
