The sculpture, installed in the regional center of the Chernigov region, depicts Alexander Matsievsky in full growth.

Called up for military service in March 2022, Matsievsky fought in the 119th ATO in the Chernihiv region.

Since the end of December, he was considered missing near the village of Krasnaya Gora, Donetsk region.

As the SBU managed to establish, Alexander Matsievsky was shot dead on December 30, 2022. His body was returned in February 2023 and buried in Nizhyn.

In March 2023, a video began to spread online of how an unarmed man in the uniform of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was shot for shouting “Glory to Ukraine.” He was identified as Alexander Matsievsky.

For his courage, Vladimir Zelensky awarded Matsievsky the title of Hero of Ukraine.

In September of this year, a monument to Matsievsky was also erected in Tbilisi.
