An Israeli-owned ship was targeted by a Shahed-136 drone in the Indian Ocean. Iran is suspected of the attack.
In the Indian Ocean, a drone attacked a container ship owned by an Israeli billionaire. Iran is likely behind the attack, The Associated Press reported, citing one of the American officials.
According to media reports, the Maltese-flagged CMA CGM Symi was attacked in international waters on Friday by a “triangular Shahed-136 drone with a bomb.” The ship was damaged, but the crew was not injured. A statement issued on behalf of the ship’s owner, Eastern Pacific, said the ship was “sailing as planned.”
The ship’s crew must have been warned about the threat of attack because they took several security measures, the publication added. For example, after the ship left the port in Dubai, its automatic identification tracking system was turned off. The crew also turned off the system earlier when the ship was sailing in the Red Sea past Yemen, where part of the territory is controlled by Iran’s Houthi allies.
“The attack was likely targeted because of the ship’s ties to Israel through the Eastern Pacific,” private intelligence firm Ambrey told reporters.
Hamas militants have reportedly begun freeing hostages during the peace deal with Israel. The first group was sent to a border checkpoint between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
We remind you that the four-day truce between Israel and the Palestinian radical group Hamas began at 7:00 on November 24, which was concluded through the mediation of Qatar.
