This year, Lithuania will contribute another two million euros to the international humanitarian initiative of the President of Ukraine.
Lithuania will allocate another 2 million euros to President Vladimir Zelensky’s global humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine. This is what the Prime Minister of Lithuania said Ingrida Simonyte on Twitter.
“Over the centuries, Russia has changed the names, but not the character and methods. Almost a century after the Holodomor, Russia is again trying to use food as a weapon, this time by destroying civilian ports , warehouse and blockade of Ukraine in the Black Sea, ” he said.
Simonyte said that the only way to ensure food security and lasting peace in Europe is to help Ukraine win this war and defeat Russia as soon as possible.
“At the 2nd Grain from Ukraine Summit, I announced that this year Lithuania will contribute an additional €2 million to this global humanitarian initiative by President Volodymyr Zelensky to help mitigate food security threats caused by war of aggression by Russia,” said Pres. Lithuania.
As you know, in July Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain agreement and began to strike Ukrainian ports and grain infrastructure. On August 10, Ukraine opened temporary corridors for civilian merchant ships. Since then, 100 ships have been sent with various cargoes, not only agricultural products.
We remind you that on November 8, the Russians launched a missile attack on a ship entering a port in the Odessa region. The invaders fired Kh-31P anti-radar missiles.
The Liberian flagged ship is civilian. As a result of the enemy attack, the pilot (citizen of Ukraine) was killed and three crew members (citizens of the Philippines) were injured.
