Severe bad weather off the coast of Turkey caused incidents on two ships at the same time. One of them comes from Ukraine, the other from Russia.
The cargo ship Pallada, which arrived from Odessa, sank near Turkey. In addition, the Turkish cargo ship Kafkametler, traveling from the Russian Federation, sent a distress signal, after which it stopped communicating.
According to the Independent, the ship Pallada, flying the flag of Panama, arrived at the port of Eregli from Odessa, split into two parts off the coast of the city of Eregli in the Zonguldak region. The accident was caused by a strong storm.
The entire crew was evacuated, there is no information about casualties. The ship ran ashore, where it crashed into the concrete walls of the harbor. Judging by the video, the cargo ship was smashed all over the hull.
At the same time, the Turkish cargo ship Kafkametler, carrying a cargo of ferroalloys from the Russian port of Temryuk to the port of Aliaga in Turkey, disappeared. This was reported by the Turkish publication TRT Haber.
It quoted a statement from Turkey’s General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, which said that on November 19 at 10:29 am the ship issued a distress signal near the city of Eregli in the country’s northwest.
It was mentioned that it was not possible to contact the ship. Couldn’t get there either because of the bad weather. The Chief Director of Maritime Affairs promised to begin search efforts using aviation and marine equipment as soon as weather conditions allow.
The Kafkametler had a crew of 12 on board and was carrying 1,542 tons of ferrosilicon.
It was also reported today that Yemen’s Houthis seized the cargo ship Galaxy Leader with an international civilian crew in the Red Sea.
Earlier, a ship carrying wheat exploded in a mine near a Ukrainian port.
