The EU proposes to ban the export of machine tools, lithium batteries and drone engines to Russia.

The European Union, as part of the 12th package of sanctions against Russia, proposed to ban the export of machines and parts used by Russia in the production of weapons against Ukraine. Bloomberg reports this in relation to relevant internal EU documents.

In addition, the EU proposes to add chemicals, lithium batteries, thermostats, motors and servomotors for drones to the list of prohibited products.

As mentioned, the package provides for a long-awaited ban on Russian diamonds from January 1, as well as the gradual introduction of an indirect ban on the import of Russian diamonds processed in third countries . The ban is in line with the G7.

The proposals are contained in the 12th EU sanctions package, which also includes measures to better enforce price caps on Russian oil. Member countries must discuss the proposals this week and they could change before they are approved.

The new sanctions package is designed to reduce Moscow’s sources of revenue and limit the Kremlin’s ability to evade EU sanctions and sponsor war. The new package of sanctions is expected to affect exports and imports from Russia by around 5 billion euros.

If the proposals are approved, more than 30 companies will be added to the list of organizations whose trade is limited, including companies in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Singapore, as well as some Russian engineering companies.

Remind you that the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the Council of the EU is finalizing the work on the 12th package of sanctions against Russia. The new sanctions against Russia can be adopted on Wednesday, November 15. They will contain both personal sanctions and sanctions against the entire economic sector of the aggressor country.

It has also been reported that the UK has imposed sanctions against 29 individuals and legal entities in Russia’s gold, oil and strategic sectors. The new sanctions lists include Russian oligarchs and businessmen, as well as collaborators from third countries who generate Russian military revenues.
