Units of the State Special Transport Service under the Ministry of Defense responsible for demining have cleared mines in an area of 1,813.5 hectares over the past week. The department announced this on Sunday, November 12, on Facebook.
“In just a short period of time, the service’s sappers discovered, seized and neutralized 2,804 explosive items,” the department said.
The Ministry of Defense said that since February 24 last year, 84,258 explosive objects have been neutralized, and an area of 37,415.20 hectares has been cleared of mines.
“During this period, explosive objects were cleared, including 21.35 hectares of water area, 708.28 km of roads, 2241.11 km of railways, 323.09 km of power lines and 35 km of gas pipelines, ” added the sappers.
