Scientists believe that the site, where coins, pieces of pottery, tiles, tombs and architectural remains were also found, was an ancient settlement during the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
In Turkey, during construction work, a settlement from the Hellenistic and Roman periods was accidentally discovered. TRT Haber reported this on Friday, November 3.
“During construction in the Ilkadim area of Samsun, a settlement was found that is believed to belong to the Hellenistic, Roman and Eastern Roman periods,” the publication reports.
The most important part of these ruins is the infrastructure and water supply system. The site, where coins, pieces of pottery, tiles, tombs and architectural remains have been found, is believed to have been a residential area in ancient times.
Excavations at the discovery site are ongoing.
It was previously reported that in Greece, archaeologists discovered a sunken ancient city of the 4th century BC.
And in Germany, during excavations, archaeologists discovered a skeleton with a prosthetic arm made of iron and non-ferrous metals.
