The new speaker of the lower house said that this week Congress will consider a bill on aid to Israel, which will be separated from aid to Ukraine.
Aid to Israel will be submitted to the US House of Representatives as a separate bill, separating it from aid to Ukraine. The new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, announced this on Sunday, October 29, in an interview with Fox News.
“This week we will introduce a bill in the House of Representatives for separate funding for Israel. I know our Republican colleagues in the Senate have a similar bill,” Johnson said.
He said it was an urgent and pressing need.
“There are many things happening in the world that we need to solve. And we will do it. But now what is happening in Israel needs attention. And I think we need to share it (help – ed.) and overcome it,” said Johnson.
He noted that a bill dealing only with Israel would receive bipartisan support in both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate.
Let’s recall that on Thursday Johnson announced a consensus among House Republicans on the issue of separating aid to Israel from aid to Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that the United States will not refuse help to Ukraine, because the success of Russia will give courage not only to the Russian Federation, but also to China regarding Taiwan. But he stressed that aid to Ukraine would require more accountability for the money already spent.
As reported, the US presidential administration has asked Congress to approve $106 billion in support of Ukraine, Israel and other foreign aid, hoping that the package deal will help approve the full amount.
