Helsinki believes that Ukraine has made good progress in fulfilling the tasks set for its accession to the EU.
Ukraine has shown significant progress in meeting the requirements necessary to start accession negotiations with the European Union. The negotiations themselves could begin before the end of the year. This is what the Prime Minister of Finland Petteri Orppo said, Yle reports.
He clarified that negotiations between the EU and Ukraine on membership in the union could begin in December. According to Orpo, a report will be prepared within a week on how applicant countries have progressed in meeting the requirements for joining the European Union.
“In my opinion, Ukraine has made good progress in fulfilling the tasks set for its joining the EU,” said the head of the Finnish Cabinet of Ministers.
Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna noted that Ukraine this year will not implement all recommendations for joining the EU, but will ensure the implementation of all agreed legislative and institutional measures.
We remind you that the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, said that she supports the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the European Union, which will take place in mid-December of this year.
