French President Emmanuel Macron proposed to involve the international coalition against the Islamic State (IS) in the fight against the Hamas group. Reuters reported this on October 24.
In a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Macron said that France and Israel have a common enemy – terrorism.
“France represents the international coalition against the Islamic State, where the French are involved in operations in Iraq and Syria, to also fight Hamas,” he said.
Macron warned against the dangers posed by the conflict in this region and stressed that the fight against the Palestinian group “must be merciless, but within the rules.”
The top representative of the Elysee Palace explained that France is ready to discuss with Israel and partners “what may be relevant against Hamas.”
“The international coalition against the Islamic State is not limited to operations on the ground. It also takes part in the training of the Iraqi army, the exchange of information between partners and the fight against the financing of terrorism,” Macron’s office noted.
