A $2 billion space center will be built in Silicon Valley. Scientists have been working on its creation for more than 20 years. The construction plans were announced by the University of Berkeley in California and a branch of NASA called the Ames Research Center, Space reports.

It will also serve as a training ground for the next generation of space professionals, from engineers and researchers to business leaders in the space industry.
The University of California plans to occupy approximately 10% of the office space and research facilities of the new 130 thousand m2 center.
The collaboration between the University of California and NASA Ames at the Berkeley Space Center has been ongoing for more than two decades.
At the space center, private companies can work alongside UC Berkeley faculty and students, as well as researchers from the space agency.
NASA has signed a contract with the private American company TransAstra for $850,000 to develop a bag for removing space debris from Earth orbit.
