This was announced by the British promoter Spencer Brown in a commentary to Boxing King Media.
Yesterday I spoke with Usik’s managers. We are completely focused on December 23rd. We’re preparing for a fight of a generation that hasn’t happened in 20 years and probably won’t happen for another 20 years, if ever,” Brown said.
The title of absolute world champion will be at stake. Usyk already made a mandatory title defense in August, knocking out Briton Daniel Dubois. Fury is scheduled to fight with mixed martial arts star Francis Ngannou on October 28 under boxing rules.
The parties have already concluded their own contracts with the organizers in Saudi Arabia, where the fight is taking place.
Earlier, after the American television channel ESPN reported that Fury and Usyk had signed a contract to fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion, the Briton posted a photo on Instagram with the caption “signed.”
Usik and Fury remain undefeated in the professional ring. The Briton only once brought the fight to a draw – in December 2018, when American Diontay Wilder retained the WBC belt.
