The money was allocated by the Ministry of Social Policy for cash assistance for the needs of internally displaced persons. It turned out that in just one episode the amount of damage was almost 1 million UAH. The Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region reported this on Facebook on October 20.
Investigators found that one of the business entities in the Lviv region was allocated 9 million UAH from the budget, which was supposed to go to the needs of displaced people. However, the businessman embezzled this money and never provided the full scope of services.
Moreover, some of the “immigrants” from whom the entrepreneur received money were abroad. Thanks to this scheme, the businessman stole almost a million hryvnia.
The defendant has already been declared a suspect under Part 5 of Art. 191 (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and chose a preventive measure.
Let us remind you that in early October, the National Police exposed scammers who were selling non-existent cars for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Law enforcement officials identified 22 people who transferred funds to the scammers, but there may be many more victims.
