Sources in diplomatic circles report that the Israeli side provides almost no assistance to embassies in the matter of evacuation.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Israel on the morning of Tuesday, October 17, evacuated 436 Ukrainian citizens. It was reported by Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the commentary of the diplomatic department.
The embassy recalled that on October 14, an evacuation flight was conducted from Tel Aviv to Bucharest (Romania) with 207 citizens of Ukraine. On the morning of October 16, a second evacuation flight with 155 citizens was sent to Cluj (Romania), and in the evening a third flight with 74 citizens was sent to Bucharest.
The evacuation of citizens of different countries is carried out both with the help of special charter flights and commercial airlines.
A source close to the agency’s diplomatic circles said that “there is disorganization and a lack of a centralized approach from the Israeli side to requests from foreign diplomatic institutions to help organize evacuation flights.”
“Based on the results of conversations with representatives of embassies in Israel, each country independently resolves the issues of evacuation flights without real help from the Israeli side,” the interlocutor stressed of the agency.
In this regard, “evacuation is granted to diplomats with great difficulty and, in general, requires little expense from citizens.”
“Citizens of all states are paying for the evacuation cost from their own funds,” the news agency’s interlocutor summed up.
As we have already written, in the first evacuation flight, on October 14, more than 200 citizens of Ukraine were brought to Romania, mostly women and children. Today, October 16, the second evacuation plane took off from Israel with 155 Ukrainian citizens, including 107 women and 23 children.
There are currently about 260 Ukrainians in the Gaza Strip, and diplomats are working with partners to evacuate them.
