The only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people is the Palestine Liberation Organization, the politician emphasized.
The actions and policies of the Hamas movement, which controls the Gaza Strip, do not reflect the interests of the Palestinian people. This is what Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas said in a telephone conversation with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, WAFA reported on October 16.
According to Abbas, only the Palestine Liberation Organization represents the Palestinians, “and no other organization.”
The Palestinian leader stressed that humanitarian corridors should be opened in the Gaza Strip, and the population should be provided with water and medicine. He also called for the release of “civilians, prisoners and detainees on both sides.”
At the same time, Abbas noted the unacceptable displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, calling it the “second Nakba” (the exodus of Palestinian Arabs as a result of the Arab-Israeli war of 1947-1949) for to the Palestinians.
According to the politician, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict must end without violence.
Let’s remember that on October 7, Hamas militants carried out a massive rocket attack on Israel and entered its territory. In response, the Israeli Army announced the start of the operation Iron swords and daily attacks on the group’s targets in the Gaza Strip.
According to the latest data, the number of victims of the attack in Israel has reached 1,400 people, while in Gaza 2,750 were killed.
