At 54 years old, the presenter spoke about her career, motherhood and relationships
Cátia Fonseca has been on daily TV programming for almost 30 years and is currently in charge of Best of the Afternoonon Band and, at 54 years old, the presenter spoke about the challenges of the live program and the changes in society.
“Before, we had inappropriate and sometimes even abusive language. Sometimes, in a live program, you run the risk of using an inappropriate term, causing a slip-up… We have to keep learning,” she said, saying that machismo and ageism are still present.
“I wouldn’t go back two years of my life. I realize that there is a strong machismo in society. Men get older, they turn gray and they hear that they are more charming, they think they are beautiful even with their beer belly…”, continued.
“For women, they say: ‘how old are you’ or ‘how dare you wear a bikini at 50?’. They don’t want to dye their hair, they don’t. Why are we forced to follow a standard that is not our choice ?”, he spoke.
Cátia is married to the director, Rodrigo Ricco and, recently, she published a bikini click taken by her husband. During the chat, the presenter spoke about self-esteem: “It was never my concern to be aesthetically perfect, I worry about feeling good, about being in good health.”
“With this photo, I didn’t feel embarrassed. Some time ago, maybe I did,” he added.
“I’m already used to him taking photos of everything. When he showed it to me, I said: ‘Wow! I even have my head down’. And he replied: ‘I thought it was so natural. Why don’t you post it?’. I shared it, but without any intention of anything”, continued.
Furthermore, Cátia is the mother of Thiago35 years old, and Philip30, from her previous marriage and revealed that she felt “empty nest syndrome” when her children left home: “When I got home and no longer had my children to take care of, I went through a natural transition and analyzed my previous marriage, what I wanted and what I didn’t want.”
