The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, who is visiting Beijing, said at a press conference that Israel’s demand to evacuate 1.1 million people from northern Gaza was “completely impossible to fulfill.”

Tens of thousands of civilians fled south Gaza yesterday after Israel ordered the area to leave ahead of a ground offensive.
To imagine that a million people could be displaced in 24 hours in a situation like Gaza can only be considered a humanitarian crisis, Borrell said on the final day of a three-day visit to China.
Despite European support, he also warned that Israel has an obligation to emulate international humanitarian law in protecting civilians.
The position is clear, Borrell said. – Like any right [держави на самозахист], it has a limit. And this limit is international law.
Earlier, the Washington Post wrote about Palestinians killed during the evacuation in the Gaza Strip. The video seems to confirm this.
Video verified by the Washington Post shows the aftermath of Friday’s attack on Gaza’s main highway, which the Palestinian Health Ministry said killed dozens and wounded more than 200 people who fled the northern Gaza Strip.
The video shows bodies, including several children, strewn along the road. Smoke rises above the cars engulfed in flames, and on a car trailer, bodies lie among personal belongings (for example, a bicycle), the publication describes.
The video was geolocated by OSINT experts and confirmed by the Washington Post.
The day before, the Israeli military ordered 1.1 million residents of the northern Gaza Strip to move south within 24 hours. On Friday, the Israeli military dropped leaflets over Gaza City, urging residents to leave their homes immediately.
The Israel Defense Forces did not comment on the video. Following the IDF warning, “tens of thousands of people fled” from the northern Gaza Strip, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Israel attacks Gaza in response to the Hamas attack, which killed more than 1.3 thousand people.
Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent called for a pause in fighting in the Gaza Strip so that it and other groups could “work safely and effectively” to provide aid. The statement said that when military authorities order people to evacuate, “all possible measures must be taken” to ensure access to food and water and ensure that families are not separated.
