Canada will provide $25 million in aid to Ukraine, Canadian Minister of National Defense Bill Blair said at the 16th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) in Brussels. This was stated in a message on the website of the Government of Canada.
“During the meeting, Minister Blair announced that Canada will provide $25 million worth of winter clothing and equipment to Ukraine. The package includes boots, thermal underwear and winter sleeping bags, as well as a pixelated uniform of the military for 2,000 female military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to be made in Canada. This donation is financed by the $500 million tranche of military aid to Ukraine announced by Prime Minister Trudeau in June 2023,” the press service wrote of the Canadian government.
Blair also announced that Canada would provide the following new package of donations from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) stockpile: 2,000 additional 155mm rounds; smoke ammunition, including 955 155 mm shells and more than 2,000 81 mm mortar shells; 2260 gas mask; 277 1,000-pound aircraft bombs and detonators; and various types of 76 mm naval ammunition.
The minister also noted that the previously announced military aid was delivered to Ukraine last week: almost 8 thousand 155 mm shells, 10 thousand 105 mm ammunition and about 2 million rounds of 7.62 mm small arms .
Earlier it was reported that Scandinavian countries have united to buy shells for Ukraine.
