Ukrainian and Israeli officials reported this to Axios.
According to the publication’s interlocutors, Zelensky’s office sent an official request to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asking him to coordinate the visit. Sources claim that the negotiations are preliminary and the date of the visit has not yet been set.
Officially, Zelensky’s office and Netanyahu’s office declined to comment.
On October 11, before the start of meetings at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Zelensky called on country leaders to visit Israel and recalled the first days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
I remember the first days of a full-scale war. It started with terrorist attacks from Belarus, followed by the Russian army. This was the biggest tragedy for us. So many dead, so many deaths. And it was very important not to be left alone. This can help save your nation, people, save lives. Therefore, my recommendations to leaders are to go to Israel and support the people. I am not talking about any institutions now. Just to support people who suffered from dying terrorist attacks,” said the President of Ukraine.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel on October 12.
Let us remind you that on October 7, Hamas militants attacked Israel. They fired about three thousand rockets and then broke into the border areas of the country, killing and taking hostages local residents and military personnel.
After this, the Israel Defense Forces began to launch massive attacks on the Gaza Strip. According to the latest data, more than 1.2 thousand Israelis were killed as a result of the Hamas attack. The Palestinian side reported more than 1,100 deaths as a result of Israeli strikes.
