In addition to them, the group included six more people “by will.”
Thanks to the “legends,” attackers easily gained the trust of potential buyers. In particular, in a telephone conversation with one of the defenders, the attacker told a made-up story that it seemed his father was also fighting, and therefore he wanted to help our soldiers and was ready to personally deliver the car to the front line.
At the same time, he asked to transfer only a few thousand hryvnia for gasoline. Over time, on the road, the car seemed to “break down” – and funds were needed to “repair” it. Thus, the scammers embezzled from several thousand hryvnia to the full cost of the car. promised to deliver them to the front.
The police identified 22 people who transferred funds to the scammers. However, the data obtained during the investigation indicate that the number of victims as a result of the criminal activities of the defendants is much greater, the National Police of Ukraine says.
