Thus, Kadyrov confirmed an earlier statement by Zhuravel, who in August said that he was beaten by Kadyrov’s 15-year-old son Adam in a pre-trial detention center in Grozny.
I beat him and did the right thing… Without exaggeration, yes, I am proud of Adam’s action. He has always been distinguished by the desire to grow not among his peers, but among his elders, thanks to which he develops adult ideals of honor, dignity and defense of his religion, the head of Chechnya said when publishing this video.
Zhuravel was detained on May 21, 2023 in Volgograd. Russian law enforcement agencies claim that no later than May 19, he starred in an 11-second video with the burning of the Koran at the Cathedral Mosque of Volgograd. It is alleged that during interrogation, Zhuravel admitted that he allegedly “committed an action at the direction of the Ukrainian special services for a reward of 10 thousand rubles.”
A criminal case was opened against Zhuravel for “insulting the feelings of believers.” Subsequently, he was transferred to a pre-trial detention center in Chechnya, citing “numerous appeals” from residents of the region calling for recognition of them as victims.
