The number of victims of rain and flooding in Libya exceeded 11 thousand people. Such data was provided by the Libyan Red Crescent Society, Al Arabiya TV channel reports.
“The death toll as a result of the natural disaster in northeastern Libya has exceeded 11 thousand; about 20 thousand people are considered missing,” the statement said.
It was earlier reported that around 7,000 people died as a result of flooding and rain in the city of Derna in northeastern Libya.
According to the Red Crescent, at least 2,000 bodies were washed away by the flood in the Mediterranean Sea. Additionally, the community fears that as a result of the rain, many unexploded ordnance and mines have been washed ashore and washed ashore.
Let’s remember that on September 10, the east of Libya was engulfed by a storm, which brought strong winds and heavy downpours with storms to the cities located on the Mediterranean coast.
The city of Derna was the worst affected, where two dams were destroyed. The very destruction of the dams near Derna is the main cause of many casualties in this region.
