The final declaration of the G20 summit contained “a set of consistent paragraphs” on the Russian-Ukrainian war. This is what US Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said, reports the Financial Times.

“From our point of view, it very well defends the principle that states cannot use force to acquire territory, that the use of nuclear weapons is unacceptable, that a just world must be based on principles of the UN Charter,” he said. .

According to Sullivan, the declaration is a “vote of confidence” in the G20’s ability to come together to solve difficult issues that deeply divide some members of the organization from others.

Before the G20 summit, a US presidential adviser publicly warned that reaching a consensus on a joint statement on Ukraine would be difficult, but the US and its partners clearly defend the view of this war as an illegal Russian aggression.

The document calls for compliance with the principles of international law, especially the territorial integrity and sovereignty of nations, and also mentions the unacceptable use of nuclear weapons.
