the heroes of YannickQuentin Dupierre’s surprise hit of the summer, the 31-year-old actor is reuniting with his friend Jonathan Cohen for a new comedy, Sentinel. The new darling of French cinema participated in our “Autopromo” interview.
My current situation.
Raphael Quenard. I’m back from the Angoulême French-speaking film festival, where I was a member of the jury alongside Letitia Casta, the president, and I’m waiting for the next role that will excite me. I don’t have a clear idea of what I want to do, but the right role for me is revealing. In the meantime, I’m working on a book and screenplay for a new comedy genre, and I have a voice-over project in a cartoon.

My news?
I play Morrissey, a straight and earnest young policeman who has to uncover a crime wave on Reunion Island, accompanied by his extravagant superior, played by Jonathan Cohen. It was a real pleasure to meet him again after that Family business. His way of approaching the profession and his involvement in production as well as production taught me a lot during these two months I spent with him.
Filming secret.
Since I don’t want to go on and embarrass some people, I’ll just say that it was an extremely festive shoot.
Is promoting myself a chore?
No, the exercise remains enjoyable, even if I felt slightly cheated at times because my words were garbled. I try to pay attention to the way I express myself and tone my speech so that it is understandable.
The question I don’t answer.
Intimate matters.
What do I think when I look in the mirror in the morning?
It feels good to be back in the sport after being stuck for the last few months of filming.
Do I still have the holy fire?
Yes, and what I particularly like about acting is that it allows you to find a little carefree again.
Do I have charms that I never take off?
I wear my father’s wedding ring, which is not so much jewelry, but a little solitaire bought in an antique shop, I want the accessories to tell stories, an aquamarine and an antique watch found by a professional bargain hunter friend who runs a shop : in Saint-Ouen. I love women’s jewelry and would love to have as many choices as they do for fashion, accessories, makeup…
Last time I was proud of myself ?
I’m glad to see that Yannick, a radical, pure creation that convinced me from the beginning, resonates with the public. I immediately liked the story of this mediocre and brilliant man, who has nothing special except the courage to be angry.

When have I been brave in my life?
I managed to reveal events and wounds that I kept secret for a long time.
Misunderstanding about me?
Nobody. I think I’m the same in public and in private, although I’m more free to make jokes in real life than in interviews.
What do I like people to say about me?
I love it when the audience tells me they had a great time. I am prone to overflowing in the cinema and enjoy showing my emotions in front of the screen. Society is often trapped in its seat, holding the form of wisdom, while I have seen images of people unleashed in front. One Piece Movie: Red: (taken from a popular Japanese manga). It would be my dream to participate in a job that creates that.
