Today in the world more than 3,100 F-16 fighters are operated in 25 countries, said Lockheed Martin.
The American corporation Lockheed Martin presented the first F-16 Block 70 fighter, which Slovakia will receive. This event was attended by the country’s Minister of Defense, Martin Sklenar, the company’s website reported.
It is indicated that Slovakia will be the first European country to receive the latest version of the F-16 Block 70 aircraft. In total, the country will receive 14 such fighters.
“These F-16s will allow the Slovak Air Force to stay ahead of threats in the region and contribute to allied missions in Europe, NATO and around the world,” said AJ Sanchez, vice president of fighter aircraft division of Lockheed Martin.
He noted that this aircraft represents strong cooperation between Lockheed Martin, the United States, Slovakia and NATO member countries.
It was also noted that today more than 3,100 F-16 aircraft are in operation in 25 countries around the world.
