The Russians are holding “elections” in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine from September 8 to 10.
Ukraine’s permanent representative to the UN, Sergei Kislitsa, called for the introduction of severe sanctions against Russia for holding fake elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine on Friday, September 8, at a Security Council meeting.
He noted that the Russians, by holding pseudo-elections, sought to legitimize control over Ukrainian territories.
“Every day, if not every hour, Russia proves that its actions are completely incompatible with the goals and principles of the UN Charter, not to mention the Security Council,” Kislitsa added.
He called on the international community to respond to such actions by the aggressor country by “tightening the pressure and introducing new tough sanctions.”
“All those who organized the pseudo-election will be held accountable. Law enforcement officials of Ukraine are already taking steps to find them,” the permanent representative warned.
The diplomat also thanked the members of the UN Security Council – Albania, USA, France, Ecuador, Ghana, Malta, Switzerland, Japan, UAE, Britain, Brazil, Gabon and Japan – who openly opposed Russia’s plan to hold “elections “.
We remind you that the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation has set “elections” for September 10 in the territories of Ukraine seized by the invaders – in parts of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as in the so-called “DPR” and “LPR”.
In Berdyansk, explosions were heard at the “polling station” of the occupiers
