The former president of the United States of America gave his assessment of the Ukrainian and Russian presidents.
The current president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, is “brutal” as if he were from Texas. Former American leader George W. Bush said this on Friday, September 8, speaking in a video chat at the Yalta Conference held in Kyiv, writes Politico.
“He’s a tough dude, he’s a true Texan,” said Bush, who grew up in Texas.
Describing Vladimir Putin, he said that he is building a new empire, and therefore he cannot stop invading Ukraine.
“If Putin goes ahead, the United States will have to help countries like Poland, Lithuania and Latvia,” he said.
Bush stressed that the situation in Ukraine is important for US security.
“The United States should support people like Zelensky when they show courage,” the former president stressed.
However, Bush believes that it will become more difficult over time to convince the American people that helping Ukraine is in their interests.
“First of all, Ukraine needs to fight corruption. The latest change of government showed me that Zelensky wants to do this,” Bush said.
Earlier, former US President George W. Bush called Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky “the Winston Churchill of our time.”
