The purpose of the exercises is to increase the level of “unit interoperability” and “exchange of best practices in the field of command and tactical communications.”
The report says that the training involves “deals to stabilize” in the implementation of peacekeeping tasks. Units involved in peacekeeping missions “regularly participate in similar joint exercises in partner countries.”
In January 2023, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia considers it inappropriate to conduct exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on the territory of the country this year. Later, he also said that Yerevan got the impression that this organization was “leaving Armenia.” He suggested that Armenia may decide to terminate or freeze its membership in the CSTO.
A few days ago, Pashinyan, in a conversation with the Italian media, said that dependence in the security sphere only on Russia is a strategic mistake for Armenia.
