The head of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk came on a working visit to the capital of Japan – Tokyo – to participate in the G7 parliamentary summit. The spokesperson announced this on Facebook on Wednesday, September 6.
“I am starting a working visit to Japan to attend the G7 parliamentary summit,” he wrote.
Stefanchuk said that during his visit to Japan, important bilateral meetings will take place with the leaders of the parliaments of the G7 countries.
In addition, the head of the Rada will speak at the first session of the Russian Aggression Against Ukraine and International Order summit.
“Undoubtedly, the focus is on Ukraine and the full support of our country’s partners in countering the Russian aggressor,” Stefanchuk added.
It is known that the conference of heads of parliaments of the G7 countries will also be attended by Chairman of the House of Representatives of Japan Hiroyuki Hosoda, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, Head of the French National Assembly Yael Brown-Pivé, President of the German Bundestag Berbel Bass, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana , Speaker of the House of Commons of Great Britain Lindsey Goyle, as well as the President of the European Parliament Robert Metzolla.
It will be recalled that on August 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. As a result, the Ukrainian leader said that Ukraine is ready to start concluding bilateral agreements with Japan within the framework of the G7 declaration.
As you know, Japan is ready to provide additional support to Ukraine through World Bank projects to repair housing damaged by the Russian invasion.
