The biggest attack on Russia since the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on the night of August 30 showed the weaknesses of Russian air defense.

In particular, explosions were recorded in Moscow, Bryansk and Ryazan, as well as at an air base in Pskov near the border with Estonia. As a result of the attack on Pskov, several Russian military transport aircraft were probably damaged. In total, Russia was attacked by kamikaze drones 25 times in August. This was announced by the British Ministry of Defense on Twitter.
Many of the drones launched reached their targets. This is a sign that the Russian air defense is having difficulty detecting them and destroying the UAVs.
British intelligence believes Russia is rethinking its air defense position in the area between Ukraine and Moscow to better counter these attacks. Previous strikes on Russian air bases forced the enemy to disperse aircraft across the territory of the aggressor country. However, the attacks on Sel’tsy and Pskov demonstrated that UAVs have a significant range, which makes further dispersal difficult.
Probably, the Russian command will be forced to resort to installing additional air defense systems at airfields to protect aircraft.
Recall that on the night of August 30, the most massive strike by drones was dealt to the Russian Federation since the beginning of a full-scale war. Unknown UAVs attacked six Russian regions – Pskov, Bryansk, Oryol, Tula, Moscow and Kaluga. There were hits in Bryansk and Pskov, planes, an oil depot were destroyed, and a technological plant was destroyed.
