This was announced by Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov in Telegram.
Institutions of general secondary education, as planned, will start the academic year remotely. In parallel with this, an offline format will work, according to which, several times a week, children will attend classes in person in the safe premises of the subway. As of yesterday, 60 such classes for 1,003 children have already been formed in Kharkiv,” the mayor said.
The day before, Terekhov published a video showing how the subway room is being prepared for future classes. Children are expected to start school on September 4th. Five metro stations will be involved in the educational process.
Earlier, Terekhov promised that school buses would run in the city, which would pick up children from schools and take them to and from classes. Meals will also be provided in the subway.
Recall, on July 7, the Defense Council of the Kharkiv region allowed the leadership and founders of educational institutions to restore full-time or combined training in the presence of protective structures that meet the requirements of DBN V.2.2-5-97 (Protective structures of civil defense. Houses and structures. With changes). Not a single city school in Kharkov has such a bomb shelter.
