The “carpet” plan was re-introduced in the Russian capital. Local authorities are reporting an alleged crash of a UAV.
On the evening of Saturday, August 26, all airports in Moscow stopped receiving and sending planes, as reported by Russian Telegram channels. Local authorities announced the destruction of the UAV.
So, after two o’clock in the morning, a “carpet” plan was introduced at all Moscow airports, which is introduced when unknown or dangerous objects are found in the sky.
Subsequently, the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, announced the alleged downing of a UAV.
“This evening, the air defense forces destroyed a drone on the approach to Moscow in the Istra district. There were no initial casualties or damage. Emergency services are working at the scene of the incident,” Sobyanin said.
Meanwhile, airports continue to delay aircraft for reception and departure. Thus, Russian media reports that at least 24 flights were delayed and eight were canceled at Moscow’s Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports.
Remember that recently in Moscow airports are closed several times a week because of UAVs. On August 22, it was reported that explosions were heard in the Moscow region, and airports did not work.
Two days before, the Russian airports Domodedovo and Vnukovo also did not receive or send planes because of the “Carpet” mode.
