The authorities of Ukraine and Canada have begun negotiations on a bilateral agreement on the provision of security guarantees. This was announced on Friday, August 25, by the Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak.
“Ukraine has begun negotiations with Canada to conclude a bilateral agreement on the provision of security guarantees, as provided for in the Joint Declaration of Support for our state. On behalf of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, I -will link to the negotiations,” Yermak said.
The head of the Office of the President added that the first round of negotiations was held by his deputy Igor Zhovkva.

Yermak emphasized that the bilateral security guarantees that Ukraine should receive now will make Ukraine more secure even before full NATO membership.
“Security guarantees for Ukraine should be effective and serve as a transitional stage on our state’s path to membership in the Alliance – the only most reliable security guarantee today,” he summarized.
