According to preliminary calculations, the Luna-25 station entered an uncalculated orbit, collided with the Moon and ceased to exist, the agency said.
Social media didn’t hold back.
And why do we need such a Universe in which there will be no Luna-25 station? – said goodbye to the Russian station on Twitter.
The former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States wrote that in the race to explore the moon between the United States (Ukraine also joined the NASA Artemis program), China, India and Russian illusions, the latter won.

Luna 25 did reach the lunar surface. But, as they say, there are nuances. Seriously, it was hardly possible to count on something else. Now the key task of the rashists is to “slander” more cruise and ballistic missiles in order to destroy Ukrainians. This is where all their resources go. But if the enemy threw some of the financial, material and human resources into the trash, that’s also good,” Chaly said on his Facebook.
Journalist Dmitry Tuzov recalled that Luna-25, the first Russian lunar station in almost 50 years, seems to have “arrived”.
An unguided piece of metal spat out by Russia into near-Earth space has every chance of becoming part of space debris drifting in space and threatening other automatic missions and manned flights. We will have to create special space drones that will clear the near-Earth space from the remnants of the life of the Russian Federation outside the earth’s atmosphere and dispose of this rubbish around our planet.
The device was supposed to work out a soft landing on the south pole of the moon and explore promising landing sites for future missions. The cost of the project is estimated at 12.6 billion rubles, the mission was prepared for 15 years.
