This was told in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
One in five surrendered voluntarily, Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate, said during a briefing on “Treatment of captured military personnel of the aggressor country in Ukraine.”
There are officers among the prisoners, but the GUR did not specify how many of them.
This means that it will be easier and more active to return our people, Yusov noted.
He also added that the invaders began to voluntarily leave their positions, throw down their weapons and surrender more often.
Every day, three to five Russian servicemen surrender under the “I want to live” program.
As project speaker Vitaliy Matvienko said, most of the people who visited the site, in which the Ukrainian authorities offer the Russian military to surrender, are Russians, namely residents, in particular Moscow.
Four such leaders are: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory and Nizhny Novgorod Region. We have 10 operators who daily process from 70 to 100 calls per day. And every day Roskomnadzor tries to block our resources and they managed to block 256 of our resources. Nevertheless, our specialists are working, the information is constantly on the Internet,” he said.
At the same time, the captured Russians in Ukraine are in no hurry to repent of their crimes. Only in some cases can one see the forgiveness and even tears of the occupiers. However, for the most part, Russians in captivity are simply trying to get into the exchange as quickly as possible and return to their usual, albeit worse, conditions.
Yusov stated this on the air of Radio NV. According to him, one does not particularly have to rely on the repentance of Russian prisoners – the majority prefer not to admit their crimes.
Despite the lack of remorse, not all prisoners still want to return to Russia. The Economist noted in its material that many Russian soldiers ask not to exchange them. They even agree to imprisonment in the colonies of Europe.
Although cases of complete disregard for reality are not surprising. For example, a video appeared on the network with a Russian prisoner who completely refuses to accept what he sees with his own eyes and prefers trust to Russian propaganda. Yes, he continues to call Ukrainians Nazis, sitting in an easy chair and minding his own business, although in fact he is a prisoner. He argued all this by the fact that “civilized Nazis” just happened to him.
