Disagreement was expressed by several countries in the community. There is a possibility that Ukraine will first receive the status of a candidate for the candidates.
Some European Union countries are opposed to granting candidate status to Ukraine under the accelerated procedure. This was stated by the Director General of the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Natalia Forsyuk on the air of the telethon on Wednesday, June 1st.
According to him, there is a possibility that “our country will first receive the status of a candidate for candidates.”
At the same time, Forsyuk said that the Ukrainian side has not received a clarification question from the European Commission on the questionnaire for applying for candidates for EU membership.
“Serious cross-sectoral integration processes are underway between Ukraine and the EU, and this includes joint customs control, roaming, and a common payment system-all of which interact closely with the provision of candidate status would be a logical progression, ”he added.
Recall that the heads of EU countries plan to consider an application for membership of Ukraine in June.
