The American leader is ready to meet his North Korean counterpart without any preconditions.
US President Joe Biden wants to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. This was said by the coordinator for strategic communications of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, Kyodo reports.
He emphasized that Biden is ready to meet with the leader of North Korea without any preconditions.
“We’re willing to sit down and negotiate without preconditions,” Kirby said.
According to him, North Korea has not yet responded positively to this proposal, but it is still relevant.
Kirby made the statement a day before Biden’s trilateral summit with the leaders of Japan and South Korea, where North Korea’s rapid development of nuclear and missile capabilities will be high on the agenda.
It can be recalled that former US President Donald Trump and the leader of the DPRK met three times since June last year to discuss the denuclearization of North Korea.
