The father of the ex-military commissar acquired movable and immovable property in the amount of 7,889,650 hryvnias. The military commissar’s wife received $65,000 as a gift from her father, even though her legitimate lifetime income was less.
The former head of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support Anatoly Pikalo was found to have undeclared property worth almost UAH 8.5 million. This was announced on Thursday, August 17, by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC).
It was noted that according to the results of monitoring the lifestyle of the former military commissar, signs were revealed testifying to his illegal enrichment for about 8.5 million hryvnias.
In a 2020 declaration, Pikalo said that neither he nor his loved ones have any financial assets. However, monitoring established that his father over the past four years has acquired movable and immovable property worth UAH 7,889,650. We are talking, in particular, about two apartments on the Dnieper and four cars. In addition, the father of the ex-military commissar became the sole founder and ultimate beneficial owner of the company with an authorized capital of UAH 1,100,000, formed from his own money.
In July 2023, this company acquired a stake in a shopping complex in the Dnipropetrovsk region worth UAH 1,150,000.
The Agency noted that due to the fact that the value of all acquired property exceeded the amount of income legally received by the father of the former military commissar by almost 6 million hryvnias, it was clear that they were acquired on behalf of Financially and at the expense of funds whose legal sources have not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the military commissar’s wife received $65,000 as a gift from her father last year.
“The explanations that the donated funds were accumulated during employment also raise reasonable doubts, since the total legal income of the father for his entire life is lower,” said the NACP.
The former head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional TCC himself in 2021 also acquired some real estate objects for UAH 168,300.
Law enforcement officials have established that the total income of the military commissioner and his relatives from legal sources is significantly less than the value of all the aforementioned properties obtained.
All the facts collected by the NAPC were transferred to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Eastern Region for their involvement in the materials of criminal proceedings and pre-trial investigations against the military commissioner.
It was earlier learned that the NAPC is investigating the lifestyle of more than a hundred military commissars. At the same time, suspicions were reported to 21 people. Eight indictments against 16 people were sent to court.
