On Thursday, August 17, the Swedish parliament approved military assistance to Ukraine for more than 270 million euros. The new military assistance package to Ukraine includes the transfer of ammunition and spare parts worth about 90 million euros, as well as trucks and demining equipment worth up to 180 million euros. This is stated on the website of the Riksdag.
Stockholm has also authorized the US government to sell a limited number of AMRAAM air-to-air missiles. Earlier, Washington launched a buyback program for older versions of AMRAAM missiles to transfer them to Ukraine and strengthen air defense capabilities.
The AIM-120 AMRAAM is an American medium-range air-to-air guided missile capable of operating in all weather conditions. The missile is designed to destroy enemy air targets out of line of sight. Its peculiarity is that the missile can be launched both on fighters and on a launcher.
Recall, on August 14, the United States announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive $200 million in military assistance, and this cost includes air defense ammunition, artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, and additional mine-clearing equipment.
