The organization of such “elections” will not have any other consequences, except for the unconditional criminal prosecution of their organizers, Mikhail Podolyak said.
Holding a “referendum” or so-called “election” by the Russians in the temporarily occupied territories makes no sense, and the Kremlin only needs it to create an alternative reality. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President, wrote about it in Twitter on Thursday, August 17th.
“Any fictitious initiatives of Russia in the temporarily occupied territories, such as pseudo-referendums or so-called “elections”, only perform propaganda tasks to create an “alternative history” and are completely without legal or political meaning,” he said.
According to Podolyak, the organization of such events will not have any other consequences, except for the unconditional criminal prosecution of their organizers in Ukraine and other countries of the world.
“Attempting to unite territories where hostilities are still ongoing is in itself a deliberate crime with especially aggravating circumstances. All accomplices of such crimes shall be identified by name and deserve punishment,” he assured.
As you know, the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation has set “elections” for September 10 in the territories of Ukraine occupied by the occupiers – in parts of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as in the so-called which are “DNR” and “LNR”.
