A truck with Hungarian plates carrying 62 migrants was stopped by Czech police on the D1 highway between Brno and Prague.

It was learned that at first, law enforcement officers were going to conduct a routine inspection of the truck, but when it stopped in the parking lane, the driver jumped out of the cab and disappeared.

“The traffic police wanted to check the truck, which is a normal procedure, but the driver was confused when he saw the police car, he stopped and fled into the nearby forest,” explained police spokesman David Chaloupka.

62 migrants were found in the cargo hold. Now the police have to establish the identity and nationality of illegal immigrants in order to call translators for interrogation.

The driver of the vehicle has been placed on the wanted list.
