There is no water supply in some communities most of the summer. And regular blackouts continue in Makhachkala.
In the village of Karaman-2, Russian Dagestan, on Sunday, August 13, hundreds of residents blocked the federal highway leading to the capital of this republic, Makhachkala. The reason for the protests is the shutdown of the water supply, Radio Liberty reports.
It was noted that the protesters were demanding the continuation of water supply to their homes, which has been missing for most of the summer. The protests caused major traffic jams on the highway, and police unsuccessfully tried to convince the crowd to disperse throughout the day.
The leadership of the Department of Internal Affairs of Makhachkala and officials of the local administration left for the battle area.
It was also reported that the previous day, Makhachkala residents blocked one of the city’s streets due to a regular blackout. Utilities explain this by abnormal weather conditions and the need to introduce technological breaks to avoid interruptions in the operation of power equipment.
It will be remembered that last week in Makhachkala there was a gas explosion in a high-rise building. As a result of the incident, several apartments were partially destroyed.
