The Romanian Foreign Ministry noted that such a decision “reflects the current level of bilateral relations in the context of the start of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine.”
40 employees of the Russian Embassy in Bucharest, along with their families, left Romania, flying on a special flight to Moscow due to Romania’s request to divide the staff of the diplomatic mission. This was reported on Saturday, July 1, by the Romanian publication Observator.
It is worth noting that some Russians left the country earlier.
The Romanian Foreign Ministry said that such a decision “reflects the current level of bilateral relations in the context of the start of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine.”
The previous day, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that 40 employees of the Russian diplomatic mission in Bucharest, along with their families, must leave Romanian territory.
“This measure reflects the implementation of the Romanian side’s decision within the established timeframe in accordance with the procedures used by other EU Member States in similar situations,” the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
It is known that the embassy personnel were taken out by a civilian aircraft belonging to a Russian airline.
It will be remembered that in early June, the Romanian Foreign Ministry announced that more than 50 employees of the Russian Embassy must leave the country within 30 days.
